Terminology update
We've renamed several areas of the app so the names match how people actually talk about them. This is a naming change only. No data has moved, no settings have changed, and nothing has been deleted.
What's changed
| You used to see | You'll now see | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Batch Jobs | Uploads | Sidebar, page heading, document details |
| Document Types | Document Templates | Sidebar, page heading, field pickers, search filters |
| Catalogues | Value Lists | Sidebar, page heading, field type, document fields |
| Workflow Runs | Workflows | Sidebar, page heading, run list and detail |
| Workflow Manager | Workflows Configuration | Sidebar, page heading |
| Tasks | Steps | Inside a workflow configuration |
| Prompt Rules | Snippets | Administration menu |
Uploads
What was a "batch job" is now simply an Upload. The wording follows through the whole flow — "Create Upload", "Upload Title", "No uploads yet" — and the document detail panel now shows which Upload a document came from rather than which batch job.
Document Templates
"Document Type" now reads Document Template everywhere: the list page, the editor, the picker when creating an Upload, the step configuration inside a workflow, and the advanced document search filters.
One knock-on change worth knowing about. Document templates have always had a flag marking a template as a reusable starting point, which the editor labelled "Default Document Type" and the list showed as a Template badge. Because "Template" now means something else, that flag is called Preset: the badge reads "Preset", the toggle reads "Preset Document Template", and the dropdown that loads one is "Load Preset". The behaviour is unchanged.
Value Lists
"Catalogue" is now Value List. This includes the field type shown when you build a document template — a field that maps to a value list now displays as "Value List" rather than "Catalog" — and the item picker on a document.
Workflows and Workflows Configuration
This is the one rename that changes what a menu item means, so it's worth reading twice.
- Workflows is the list of workflows in flight. This is what used to be called Workflow Runs.
- Workflows Configuration is where you define a workflow — its steps, its assigned users, its attachment rules. This is what used to be called Workflow Manager.
Inside a configuration, Tasks are now Steps. The section heading reads "Steps", the button reads "Add Step", and each card is headed "Step 1", "Step 2" and so on.
Snippets
The Prompt Rules area under Administration is now Snippets. It remains restricted to super administrators.
What has not changed
Your links and bookmarks still work. Page addresses are untouched.
Uploads is still at /jobs, Document Templates at /document-types, Value
Lists at /catalogs, Workflows at /workflows/runs and Workflows
Configuration at /workflows. Anything you've bookmarked or shared in an email
will open exactly where it did before.
Roles and permissions are untouched. Nobody gains or loses access as a result of this release, and administrators do not need to reissue any roles. The underlying permission names have deliberately been left alone, so if you manage roles you'll still see the old wording. Here's how they map:
| Feature (new name) | Permission still named |
|---|---|
| Uploads | org:batch_job:create / :read / :update / :delete |
| Document Templates | org:document_types:* |
| Value Lists | org:catalogs:* |
| Workflows | org:workflow_runs:* |
| Workflows Configuration | org:workflows:* |
| Documents | org:documents:* |
| Export Presets | org:export:* |
| Snippets | Super administrator only — not permission-scoped |
We plan to bring the permission names in line with the new terminology in a later release. When we do, it will be announced separately and handled for you.
Your data is untouched. Every document, template, value list, upload and workflow is exactly where it was.
Questions
If a renamed area isn't where you expect it, check the table above first — the most common surprise is Workflows now meaning the in-flight list rather than the configuration screen. Anything else, get in touch through the Get Help or Report Issue link at the bottom of the sidebar.
